Fountains Abbey: In the Footsteps of Turner
It is 200 years since Turner painted his famous painting of Huby Tower. KS3 pupils captured this scene using, pastels and then watercolours in two differing works. This was done in a Friday Challenge before they went on the trip.
On 18.06.18 Max, Rhiannon and Connor had the experience of painting the Abbey. The workshop was led by Emma Manners. After a quick slide show and discussion about their work so far we split up and the pupils set too. When we joined Max towards the end of the morning we were amazed to see him surrounded by a large group of tourists on a tour watching him paint away.
Sky TV were setting up their pods and equipment for the filming of a big Landscape competition which was starting the next day. We could have easily given them a challenge.
We were sad to say goodbye to Emma who has given our pupils so much help and inspiration from all the different workshops over the last five years. We wish her well in her new life in Copenhagen.
Well done to our lovely talented pupils.
