Our Careers Curriculum
All students who attend the Grove Academy have access to a lesson of Careers each week. In KS3 we concentrate on Self Development, Career Exploration and Career Management. This involves identifying which jobs suit which personalities, strengths and weaknesses, what work entails and job studies.
Students in year 11 produce course work towards their AQA Entry Level 1 and Level 2 Certificate ‘Preparation for Working Life’. This exam is equivalent to GCSE (short course) grade A – C (NVQ Level 2) at Level 2 and GCSE grade D-G (NVQ Level 1) at Level 1. Students also gain two AQA awards in ‘Applying for Jobs and Courses’ and ‘Behaviour and Practice in the Workplace’.
From time to time we have visiting speakers and organise visits to local workplaces.
During KS4 all students have individual interviews with an independent careers adviser to discuss career routes and options, additional details of these programmes are available to download below.
